BSL registration

On a similar note to my servicing thread, has anyone registered BSL (Biomass Suppliers List) themselves?
We want to be registered so we can use our own wood as a source.

I think GlenFarrow are wanting us to pay quite a lot of money, for "a bot of form filling"

Ill undertake it myself, but would be grateful if anyone has any pointers to help me with the paperworl

thanks

i dont know if anybody goes this far into supplying chip but our company have produced a biomass system manager that allows total control over felling, harvesting, chipping, drying and delivery of all things woodchip. http://www.all-energy.co.uk/__novadocuments/76430?v=635610207539570000

I have to go this far and have been looking for a system that will cut out the manual red tape. This system looks impressive and expensive but will it actually provide the information required for BSL or will we still have to filter the data in excel.

did anyone submt a woodland management plan?
Ive started the registering process, and it seems logical thus far, though would be great if if i had some pointers re the woodland management plan?

@Bloders how have you got in with this? I cant recall if you ever burn straw but I am totally confused now, I tried to fill in the forms but no mention of Straw so emailed them - reply is here (in reverse), totally unhelpful!!

There are only 4 fuel types on BSL that can be registered: firewood, chip, pellet and briquette. Unfortunately, straw is not covered by the BSL. Please contact Ofgem if you have any enquiries regarding the Renewable Heat Incentive.

Thanks and kind regards,

Jai

Hi Jai,

Thanks for your reply.

Can you confirm if I need to register then for this BSL? I was under the impression that you were a government website and would thus have the answers...!

Thanks

Thank you for your email. The BSL only covers Wood fuel and does not cover any non-woody biomass. Unfortunately, straw is not covered by the BSL.

Please contact Ofgem if you have any enquiries regarding the Renewable Heat Incentive. Further information can also be found at www.ofgem.gov.uk.

Thanks and kind regards,

Jai

Subject: Self supplying straw

Hi,

I have one straw burner already registered for RHI and another on the way.

Both burn straw and nothing else.

I understand I have to register for self supply but the forms don't seem to permit this.

I appreciate few are lucky enough to be able to self supply straw but surely I am not the first to raise this point, or have I missed something on the forms?

Please can you help?

we dont want to burn straw.
Havent progressed it since i started this thread - been occupied on some other tasks. I expect well have a rainy weekend soon when well do some bookwork

@Bloders

Spoke to consultant quickly about this, turns out they are not set up for straw yet but we are still obliged to fill in the forms!!

System is being modified to take straw so in time I will be able to stop breaking the rules by having the option on the forms to fill in!!
