Agri Waste

I can not give you the in's and out's as I haven't seen the machine run yet.

But there is a "wash plant" which I am assuming with clean the product before they are processed through one of the other machines.

At the place where I take my waste, they just bale (not bail) it up and send it on. All the hard manual work seems to be done by a couple of hardworking polish blokes. I do wonder where it all ends up. can they compress and melt it back into raw material or does it all end up on a huge bonfire in China? I had heard that somebody was making grain store under floor drying ducts from recycled plastic. Sounded like a good idea.

If you are genuine , and I think you probably are, then good luck to you. recycling is an important industry.

Right now I am not entirely sure. So far I haven't encountered a few different plastics but I don't think any of them are from farm waste. I have been shown a few different types of plastics, LDPE, PTFE, PP and PA12 but I was only shown one form of each. The boys who work out in the warehouse are forever sorting materials by hand, so yes it does seem to be a big problem with mixed lots. Luckily for them I don't work out there.

I do believe that some products are shipped over seas. I was shown pellets of recycled material that was being shipped out/sold on. Although I doubt it's for a bonfire otherwise the cost of the energy to run the machines that change the form would be silly if they were just to burn it.

I'm in the Cardiff area we take our wrap and plastics to a local farmer who then bales it up I think I'll try and find out where he sells it on to then when I speak to him next

Recycling place near here used to take it for free, if you took it in.
Last load, I suddenly got a bill through the post three weeks later for the equivalent to £800/ton! Unimpressed is an understatement! Luckily it was only a little load (couple of hundred kgs, just to get a fresh ticket for the assurance inspection) and it'll be going elsewhere next time!

Birch Farm Plastics come and collect ours from South Wales, and I believe recycle it into all sorts of things. They are even kind enough to charge me for the privilege. They win both ends!

Worked for a birch franchisee a decade ago, farmers always always complained about a £35 "registration fee" and that they'd never been told about it beforehand. I used to write a good few off as liars, but when it got to every farmer I went to collect from bringing this up, I realised there was truth in this. I later heard the franchisee and the firm allegedly fell out, leaving my former boss with a mountain of bale wrap reaching the back door of the house and not a bean for collecting it. That is allegedly the case.
