I've got a site to strip for a 105ft by 40ft shed. Got to remove about 3ft from one side down to nothing on the 40ft run, and then 4ft down to nothing in the 105ft run Will have the use of a 5 ton 360 digger, do you think this will be up to the job or do I need a 8 ton or bigger. Like to do it in a couple of days really. Ground it clay with some rock in it.

It depends how quick "to nothing comes" across the site if square it you have around 412 sq m if you have 3 an average of 1m to come off half of it that would be 206 cubic m at say 1.5t per m that's still 300 ton what are you loading and will you be loading all the time or waiting for a trailer or dumper , plus have you allowed for battering back the edges in the deep part of the dig or are you leaving them vertical ?
Considering you want it done in a couple of days i would hire an 8 ton machine for the small extra cost involved

Getting the 5 ton cheap which is why looking at it. Going to be hauling with a tractor & trailer but some of what I'm digging out will be used to fill in parts of the site. Got a front loader on the tractor as well if needed to push up.
