Remember having a demo of a self propelled sprayer and cannot remember the make. It was built by a chap by the name of Pickton(?) British built, purpose built and not a conversion, hydrostatic drive with clearance, Deutz engine, possibly blue and white livery but may be green(!). He then went on to build for a neighbour a front mounted 24m sprayer boom and rear tank and built like a brick shed. Anybody with any ideas?

There was a company making sprayer in that colour ( Blue chassis and boom, white tank and wheels?) and Deutz engine called DDB it stood for Dorset Design and Built, I wouldn't know the name of the chap though

Yes Masstock sold a lot in north lincs round my relations called an MCV you could have front or rear mounted booms rest of machine same. Can like an old shelbourne rape swather / garden shed. Blooming aweful machines to drive but if anything ahead of there time circa 1984 -5

Fairly sure a certain contractor called Charlie Benson from MK used to run one in the early 80's with what was then a vast 36 metre boom.
Did a lot of rape dessication
This had the front mounted berthoud booms

That would be Charlie Pickton. Father believes that it was made in Martock in Somerset.
The DDB, we think, was Mr Hunt, at Henstridge, Dorset.....

The DDB was made by Anthony Hunt(farmer) and David Vine(engineer) I believe, based on the farm of Mr Hunt near Henstridge, actually Fifehead Magdalene.

Thanks for the thoughts, the front mounted booms I mentioned were mounted on an International 885 tractor. Any ideas how many machines he made and what eventually happened to the company?
