Just out of curiosity what would the sires be???
morcourt hilton, I've used him for years and have got some nice cows from him.catlane Chad, I used him as a test bull and now he's one of the best proven available. Piet adema 186, a positive stature bull used extensively in Ireland. Catlane snowstorm, similar blood lines to Chad. Rebnautical, another high components bull proven in Ireland. So all top Bulls.(y)

I think you will get fed up with the high turnover of cows and other people's cast offs in time and buying cows from failed farms which might be for a reason?? You will be constantly writing out big cheques for more and more cows which you have no idea on on their health status.
I might be very wrong but for me my business didn't start to thrive until my own heifers were entering the herd. Everything started falling into place in so many ways after that.

Ah I agree 100% but to buy a complete herd calve them all down and then cherry pick what you want to keep! with a small financial implications can't be all to bad. But don't get me wrong, if 12 are on farm this time next year it will be a miracle, but won't have any heifers through for 24 months so to get by I've gotta keep buying....

I bought a nucleus of 30 super cows from the Peacehay herd bred by David Chave when I started in 2008 and everything else was cheap and cheerful like your buying. He breeds a slightly different type of cow to fresianfan perhaps but a proper breeder of cows as fresianfan. I have many still here now and going strong with numerous big lactations behind them. I have bred lots of replacements from them and have few generations here now and the progeny stands out a mile. They were some of the dearest cows I bought but some of the best value for money and I think with a little thought on bull selection will stand me in good stead now for as long as I wish to milk.

Still for sale. I thought I had sold them all to a new herd on the Isle of wight. But he pulled out at the last minute saying that he bought some on the island instead!:(.
