Adds

I know this site needs the adds to generate income to keep it running and keep us all happy and because of that i have been happy to not install an add blocker. Because some advertisers insist on parts of their adds flashing (Zetor being one but there are others) I am being forced into a rethink! there is nothing worse when reading a thread to have an add that flashes in the corner of your eye and you cannot scroll past it.
I don't really want to install add blocker but silly advertisers thinking they are being clever seem to want to shoot themselves in the foot by forcing us to look away! I can't understand what they think they are achieving by annoying us their potential customers.
If there is no change in a couple of weeks then the add blocker will be enabled.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have been watching this with interest and was waiting to see what other people thought.

We have considered it as a team and have agreed that implementing an option where you can 'opt out' of animated adverts / avatars could be a good idea.

We now need to:

- work out what it will require from a technical perspective
- explain to our customers why we are doing it and suggest they provide us with some non animated adverts as well
- prioritise some developer time to implement it

Would you also like the option to block animated avatars?

they are ok, I just don't see the point after a week or so when everyone has seen it
some are ok , turkey was a good one , i missed that when it went , clives is ok , i can't think of any on here that is bad but it is easier to do something before it becomes a problem than after and not every one will speak out ,

I would refer you to this
I don't mind the moving/flashing avatars as they are only on for a very limited time before you scroll past them (y). I also find with the avatars, those with moving/flashing ones need them to be noticed as they have very little of merit to say :p:p:hilarious::hilarious:.
As I think it is quite appropriate :D:whistle:
