Gatekeeper alternatives ?

How smooth would a transition from Gatekeeper to another programme be? There would be a huge amount of information to extract from Gatekeeper and format to the new programme.

Have the invoice for the annual upkeep from Gatekeeper to pay in the coming days, it's too much in my opinion.

Especially when the sentinel ireland doesn't work properly (despite bring promised for years) and it doesn't work for nitrates

Hi Thactcher92, if you drop me a message I will give you a call and go through your requirements, Farmflo also has a free trial to there will be no financial investment while you take a look at it and we also have a support team in place that you can chat to when you are using Farmflo to help you through getting up and running.

I am just starting to look for a programme that will do mapping including importing yield and soil maps, enable me to do my own precision soil testing using zones or grids. Turn yield maps into p and k application maps based on off take, produce variable rate seed and n maps. I don't need accounting functions but need it to produce work orders and integrate with portable devices to record work once done and make sure I'm not breaking any laws on application rates etc etc.
Is there any such thing?

Hi Colin in Farmflo at the moment you can map out you fields and record your soil sample data, we also allow you to assign tasks, record you crop records and rates etc but we do not have all your functionality listed above, The mapping is an area that we are planning to really develop over the next couple of months and would be keen to have input into what people would like to see go into this part of the product. If you are interested in having some input to it please let me know. We are more than happy to help.

Any more developments on the Farmflo front, getting very annoyed at the costs of gatekeeper. myjohndeere is developing quite well.

I hope all is well and that you are having a good harvest so far, we are working with the TFF and planning a release in September, I will keep you posted on our progress but please drop me a message if you want any more info, more than happy to help.

Hi JHFarm we are still working on it at the moment, we still have a few bits and pieces to tidy up and then hopefully we will be ready to go. Will keep you updated on the progress but if you want to drop me a DM I can give you my direct contact details and more than happy to have a chat about what we are doing.

3rd time this year Gatekeeper has failed now due to "SQL server" issues. As ever it means a phone call and total rebuild on their part. (I prefer to make them do the work given what they charge for support!)

Eagerly awaiting a good alternative...

Think it will be a long time rich, I totally understand you're grievances with GK and the thing drives me mad but as a program it is incredibly sophisticated. I endeavour this winter to unlock more potential from it as unless you are really utilising it (which I'm sure you are one of the few who is) it really is an exorbitant amount of money.

I've just phoned farmplan to cancel the "Actual" module. I set myself a target at the start of harvest to see what value that extra module was to me. And I honestly found it added nothing to the business. I much prefer to use the Class software than pay the extra support fees etc for another module.

I would imagine farmplan are going to find it tough this year (as all branch agri businesses are). When wheat prices are low its got to be an easy one for farmers who are looking carefully at the money to be rid of!

Are there any updates to this old thread. I'm currently with muddy boots but want to change as it's not my cup of tea.... far to labour intensive for inputting details

It all depends on what you want from the software. If you are just after spray and fertiliser recording farm flo is worth a look. If you want more at the moment it's the bigger companies. Gatekeeper is huge and complex but if you want nvz, waylines etc it is still the go to choice but it is very expensive.

Have you looked at muddy boots greenlight grower. I am trying it at the moment and even though it does not fully meet my needs yet I am quite pleased. Nvz records are on their way. Data entry is much better than cropwalker and it does exchange data with cropwalker.

Lots of people like farm works. I believe pear agri is no longer supported but I may be wrong.
