They're supposed to keep foxes away from chickens! Don't think they do much, but just like the funny old things so they can stay as pets!

Not had much to do with them, went to help a local with theirs to get them used to handling, un touched since birth, didnt take me long, I found them very calming, love the mew noise they make, they were very trusting quite quickly. Enjoyed the experience hugely.
