We had that happen a couple of years ago, shot up every 10 days or so then straight down again, turned out one of the relief drivers was taking it from the gunky  tap for home consumption instead of using a dipper and getting it out of the top of the tank.

we used to get quite a few high ones here, but change of haulier now n hardly ever a high one now

I caught the polski driver (a few years ago) putting milk from 1 tank in 2 pots. What about the other tank? I asked him............ aah, milk is milk!!

We've found that on very hot days our bactoscan/ scc goes through the roof. Milk is taken at 8.10 in the morn and left until mid afternoon in a yard 20 miles down the road awaiting taking to the dairy!!

Bulk milk, samples or both? No wonder the Chinese put a ban on until they see proof of chilling temps between farm and dairy!

Very nice! What is she by? Looks" Ferdon" type , What Jerseys looked like before they decided to spoil Holstein-ize our lovely breed!:(
Unfortunately we had to modernise the breed to get taken seriously. This has worked well now as jerseys are now 3% of the cow population instead of 1.5% back in the '90's. But the Ferdon type genetics are still available in New Zealand if that floats your boat.

Would yours be mostly Danish and American bred?

I was having a few doubts about the breed about 5 years back, purely because I couldn't get a proper solids contract so I put a few cows to b&w and also used a couple of higher yielding but lower solids jersey bulls from Derrick (Louis and blueprint). They would definitely be putting more milk in the tank than my herd average but I do worry they wont last. I'm mostly using high fertility danish and ambreed bulls at the moment.

Its an outdoor one with a real crappy sample tap on that doesn't wash
Interesting - we have gone from hand scrubbed ice bank tanks to an outdoor silo with baco scan issues - I wonder if it is the same company? - have you had the silo recently? Does yours have a made in Herefordshire sticker? maybe a PM if it does?
Does anyone else get occasional really high bactoscans? This months samples;
Cell count___Bactoscan
179________9
126________12
130________11
128________9024

properly.

our silo is a crown (nz made)
i phoned the original installers to ask some advice and they said it was taken out due to cleaning issues , we put new sample taps on with plastic seals rather than rubber so they dont contaminate the thimble full needed for testing, changed the wash cycles and put a restrictor in the breather pipe wash line as it was taking too much water away from recirculating .

165.....58
190......17
219.....29
187.....30
181.....27

the thing i have found is that i dont open the hatch and look in often enough , nor does the tanker driver have to so neither he nor i see if there is a problem before i get a real scare

We use about a dozen different bulls of varying genetic traits every year. We are trying to balance production with walking up to 3 miles per day. We use mainly US and Canadian bulls with a smattering of Danish and New Zealand as we are doubtful about the type of these animals. Plus the kiwi ones tend to dry themselves off once they get in calf

Wasted a good 20 mins at the start of milking tonight moving this heifer off the yard with hip clamps after she slipped down and couldn't get up.
Unfortunately she appears to have contracted Holsteins disease. such a shame to happen to an apparently healthy heifer.
