Due to the new 3 crop rule and all that jazz! I'm currently thinking of growing some beans, we have the above drill but only the standard A shares and boots so would have to get what's needed for the beans, BUT, I don't know enough about them to decide on winter or spring as never having grown them before!
I am led to believe that winters are harvested earlier, but spring cheaper to grow.
Any advice please, both on establishment with the Claydon and winter or springs? TIA.

Best crop of winters (Wizard) we ever have grown sown with a Claydon 3 t/ac.sown direct into stubble. Not a lot of difference in harvesting dates between w or s IMO.

We grew Wizard once, harvested them in December! Now grow springs, harvested last week at 14.5-16% MC and did around 2t/acre. (Fuego and Fanfare)

Drilling kit, IIRC, for winters you will want the bean chute seed boot with an SR type leading tine in place of the A share, for springs you'll need the short seed boot and the 3 inch spoon type A shares

I think spring beans sound the best to dip our toe in the water, as the winter bean knife and chute are a big investment if it only ends up as a one off! Whereas the 3in spoon and open chute could also be used for OSR.
When did you plant your spring crop?
