power harrow mounting an Accord DL,or vicon LZ?

My question, could a 4 meter 3 point linkage mounted drill be used on the box type drill linkage fitted to power harrows?I have a light weight Vicon LZ401,and taking off the extensions would reduce to 3m,so would need to change/modify the distributer head. Also, would the pto shaft work? think the drill would lift too high,so maybe need a hydraulic fan drive, where would I source one? thanks John

One potential problem is that half a ton of seed will be hung best part of a meter further back, putting more weight on the tractors rear axle when raised. The vicon may be fairly light, but its still a long way back. On a suitably large, well shod and ballest tractor it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but a DA or similar would be better in that respect.

quite common here, the linkage lifts the drill up and forward so making it easier to lift but normally box drills so no fan,

we did this a while ago, you can put check chains on the ram to stop it lifting to high and damaging the pto drive. The tractor needs extra weight on the front though as the drill hangs further back.
You also need to shift the markers and get shorter wires to work them properly.

Yes can be done but ideally wants to be on a powerharrow with a coil or crumbler to allow you to get it closer as packers and scraper bars take a fair bit of space. The more fundamental issue what speed is your powerharrow (1000rpm) as most of those type of drills are 540rpm. If they match its a case of having an offer up for pto angles etc check chains etc to limit travel if a hyd up and over linkage. But you will need a lot more weight to wagon a rig like that. But just be careful you aren't starting to through good money after bad if it is starting to cost and you weren't better cashing it and picking up a cheap s/h da

Cheers

My uncle did this for years with a 4metre roterra with homemade linkage and vicon drill on the back. Did have a fair bit of levarage. He handled it with a deere 6600 with the biggest digger weight hung off the front linkage iv ever seen. Dont think 3m will be a problem.
