Just thought I would post some photos of my best cover crop yet.

Both. Drilled August 9th with some layer manure.

My Pedders mix came without sunflowers for some reason . Shame because they look to be doing really well there.

surely the compaction is showing them up - we all know plants cant grow where a wheel has ever been

Really like these pictures which show so much. Woiuld be interested in slotting them in the next issue of Farm Ideas if there's a chance. This is the last week of writing! But that's plenty of time

What crop will you drill into this, will you top, graze or destroy in anyway and what drill will you use?

Thanks, will the winter reduce the amount of biomass, especially if it's a cold one?

Hmm don't feel qualified to answer that as I am new to this style of farming!

Plenty on here with lots of experience.

If you get a winter like last, the cover will just get bigger and bigger, but a 750a will drill beans into it with ease. Just need to watch the tillage radish, if they get large bulbs, they can regrow.

I considered grazing it as I have sheep on tack on some grassland

I decided it might be better leaving it to cover the soil for longer.

It can do both. Hasn't got to be grazed to the nub.
