Grain storage

Thanks everyone. My original 60*40 was just a guess, but I imagine I will have to do 60*60 or 70/5. At least this will give us plenty of room. So at £10 sqft am looking at around £45000ish plus floor? Obviously I want plenty of height to tip the trailers so how high does it need to be? 18ft to eaves?
I think I will pass on the IBC containers. Dragons Den might be interested though!
As high as you can afford. you need about 13m to tip a hi cube bulker to the top. You can get grain out at 6m but if the driver/banksman gets it wrong you have a hole in your roof. Like all things, stores can never be high enough or big enough. It's budget versus wish.
On a tax note if you're using a dividing walls movable ones are 100% tax allowablle

Good info about the dividing walls, thanks. Would the roller doors also be 100% tax allowable?
I think we are looking at 60*60, with 20ft eves if we go ahead with a building. This would give us plenty of room for the moment and extra space if we take on any extra land. Also a useful building for storage when not need for crops. Worth having roof lights? Or just a hassle? What type of lights are best to light the building artificially? (They would have to be covered obviously!)

You should never put roof lights in a grain store as you get condensation off them.
High as possible its never high enough our grain store we struggle to get an artic tipped should of gone higher. We are storing rape at 9 metres but with a fantastic underfloor ventilation sysetm.
Good luck with your figures, whatever you think it will be more. We know this from having 10000 + tonne storage here.
