Froling boilers and Absolute Biomass

Froling boilers are nice pieces of kit, well constructed and easy to use. They can be a bit on the complicated side but we'll worth considering. Eta are the only thing similar yet on the more expensive side. You pay for what you get in this game. What size of boiler are you looking at

Hi, we install both ETA and Froling boilers. In my opinion the ETA is far easier to use for the end user and also had the ability to change is own settings for moisture content. The Froling need to be re commissioned each time there isa variance in the moisture. Both boilers are very good at what they do. I would say the Froling are slightly more expensive but you as had been said, you get what you pay for. What size boilers are you looking at and what fuel are you wanting to use

Looking at 150kw for woodchip,2 holiday cottages and a big old farmhouse with 3 foot of insulation in the roof, bugger all in the walls, single glazed sash windows to boot and to help matters more, grade B listed.(Replacement windows like for like, which means they have to rattle when the wind blows if they currently open,or be painted shut on installation.)How much variation in moisture content necessitates a recalibration?

About 10% difference and we would be looking to change parameters. If it was an ETA boiler you very easily tell it your changing from 20 to 30% mc and it will change all the necessary settings itself.

If your planning to always use woodchip and not change to pallet or other waste woods then i would definitely go for the ETA.

We are partnered with Highland Wood Energy based at Fort William. The fit loads of ETA boilers but not being from Scotland I couldn't tell you where they are.

I know it may be different in Scotland but we have a grade 2 listed farmhouse which they "insisted" that we did like for like single pane replacement but use oak frames instead of softwood. After a 4 year battle and the help of English Heritage I have Listed building consent not only for 3G solar glass and self cleaning but also permission to install them without window frames direct into the stone mullions and pointed with lime mortar like the house would have been originally. Because there will be no opening windows they also allowed MHRV using Partel units. PM me if you want further details or want to use us as a precedent.

Dont replace anything until you have listed building consent. You can use the dilapidated state of your existing frames to your advantage. Some of mine where so rotten you could push your finger 2 inch into the frame. Had we replaced some then they would have restricted renewal to only those that had not already been replaced. The other thing I forgot to say was the distinction between old and new. The old part of the house dates back to about 1650 with an extension put on in 1721 all of this will have 3G glass in the stone mullions the 20th century stone additions will have 3G glass in oak frames.
Just because you have listed building consent does not mean you have to do all the work at once. So long as you start it in the alloted time you can take as long as you like.
