Anti freeze for Dragon Boiler

Making some alterations to my Dragon Batch Boiler and Fitting an accumulator tank. Will need to add antifreeze when refilling. Can anyone recommend a supplier and a concentration of anti freeze to water to use in the system.

Could I buy bulk engine anti freeze?

did have just standard car antifreeze 50% mix but as i drained it down for the new flue i haven't put it back in yet not really convinced in its necessity

Wouldn't like to put 50% mix in mine. Will hold 7000litres once buffer tank is connected! Might buy a 200litre drum and tip it in. Or maybe I should just get an electric frost heater for the rare times it won't be on.

think its more as a rust inhibitor like i say not convinced in its necessity but then mine is on 24/7 so it aint going to freeze

Ours has Accepta corrosion inhibitor, 2889 I think ?
About 4 x 20l cans in 18000 l system
It shouldn't get cold enough to freeze !

If you are just looking for corrosion inhibition may well be worth looking at Cathodic corrosion protection.

I will have a search for the cans, I can't remember the number but it definitely ended in 889

Hi Kenny. Hope the re-fit is going well. The antifreeze ought to act as a lubricant for the pump too.

Robin things are slowly getting there. Plumbers put off by rain the last few days. Thanks.

Will get some later today hopefully. Handling cattle just now.

Not sure yet about the anti freeze. Will put inhibitor in if no anti freeze.
