@Penmoel New Buffer tank (6000 litres) supplied by @RobLM http://www.earthfireenergy.co.uk/ and heat exchanger.

Dragon boiler was fitted 5 1/2 years ago, two months too early for RHI. We just made it feed the house directly however this meant we were either roasting or freezing. Hopefully buffer tank should transform the system.

Kenny make sure you put the u/g pipe work in sand and at a good depth. The photo does not look as though it is particularly deep?

It's about 3 foot in main trench. Will be closer to surface at bottom end where it comes into tank shed. Will be bedded with sand before back fill.

The tank has an insulation jacket on already by the look of it, no doubt it will be a different system now you can store and have some control of the heat peaks. How big is the water jacket on the dragon and what is the output of the Dragon boiler?

It looks as though it would take a fair bit of timber.(y)(y)

Water jacket is over 1000 litres. The Dragon is a round bale model. Haven't had much success with straw but hopefully would do it better with the buffer tank. Mostly burn timber (old Tattie boxes and some wind blow). It is far bigger than necessary for that.

Output- they rate it at 120kw I think- but it is totally dependent on what you put in. If I filled here with dry timber it would produce a hell of a heat!!

Feckin plumber didn't make it back yesterday (was a nice afternoon) and now raining to that will put them off again.
