BT call centres in UK?

Our broadband has been down to 0.1 Mb again today and I'm not in the mood to spend an hour talking to their customer call centre in Mumbai or Bangalore. Has anybody ever been able to contact a UK call centre to get their problem sorted and if so what time of day did they ring up?

Just this minute I got off the phone to Louise based in Middlesbrough who solved my problem in 15mins which I have spent 4 weeks sorting with Mumbai.

I called the cancellation number on 0800 345 7310 then they transfered me to the correct uk depot.

Good luck

B****r, forgot its Saturday today and just rang the number pdrd gave me, told they're very busy and there's a 40 minute wait unless I wanted a ring back within the hour, I'll try again next week.

BB went phut in a thunderstorm a fortnight ago. After the storm (12 hours!) all the router lights were out so dragged out an older one and fitted it. It showed all its lights but no luck. Waited a couple of days in case it came back and then dialed the number in the phone book. After about 10 minutes got talking to a chap from Lincs who went away for 2 or 3 minutes and then came back and explained what I had to do. It involved some elaborate codes and addresses, so as well as dictating them, he emailed me as well, so I could be sure of getting the case right. I retrieved the email via dial up. Got the little one to help me and I was back better than ever.

Tried the BT number @PDRD gave me at lunchtime today but was put onto the Mumbai, or wherever in India call centre. Well after an hour on the phone I was looking around for a sharp knife or blunt instrument. BT have concluded that the fault lies in my computer software and if I mention their name in Curry's I can get a discount on Windows XP. Wonder how many people follow that up?

Little one works in a Welsh language call centre. He was telling me this w/e that they got the contract for the Welsh section of a national company's call centre provision last year. He was saying that they started out with a couple of calls per day but now it has ramped up to a hundred calls a day. The reason is that callers are gradually realising that if they choose the Welsh option, they get someone who is a fluent English speaker as well as a Welsh one. If they choose the English option, they get Anglo Indian.
The only reason this company has a Welsh section is because they have a statutory duty to provide one.
The future could get interesting. You note that I am not mentioning any name!
Try NHS Blood Services for how a call centre should be run and is run.
