Sell them with the lambs about a month/six week old, price wise younger doubles £220+ younger ones £175, single's at £135 for younger ones and £110 for older ones ( thou here old outfits are making nearly as much as young ones at the moment.. )

If you sell them before lambing then £90 for the older ewes and £110 for the younger ones if not scanned but I would advise scanning them if your going to sell them in lamb as they may make a bit more with scanning results.

Cull ewes making bonkers money at the moment. I averaged £116 and topped at £135 for two Tex X's. Whole mouthed good bagged ewes have got to be worth more than that un-lambed or considerably more with dry navel, tagged lambs at foot.

400 sold in the local market here last week, texel, char, suff bred, lambing feb/march, mixed ages scanned at 200% averaged £180, why would you bother lambing them:scratchhead:
Sell the ewe at weaning and say 150% to account for losses and to make my maths easier. Theres about £300/ewe return for me from that £180 outlay.

Not that I would want to do do it but theres a bit of profit there.

No way will cull ewes be averaging £150 come next June/ July and i cant sadly see lambs averaging £100/ head in July either... thou would be nice if im wrong!

Even breeders will be struggling to average that in July.

If you did want to sell them before lambing and make most money sell the young ewe's carrying twins, or singles & trips as scanned at 200pc. If you want easier work sell the old ewes that are more likely to give you problems. Or you could sell a cross section as a part dispersal....no come backs with dispersals.

On the other hand employ a young person to help at lambing. Yows with lambs at foot are always a flying trade!!

Whatever way I count it I could never get to £300, I think £200 might be a bit more realistic and and costs still to come out of it.

£150/ lamb into a freezer £75 for a cull ewe, although it depends on trade and how much flesh you can keep on them but a terminal bred ewe should hold condition ok.
Obviously costs to come out of that and you are likely to have a few ewes give up on you.
I just wouldn't want to lamb them...

Going to be a fair lamb to get £150

And how many of them can you sell?
At the moment I'm selling about 50 a year, which granted isn't a great deal but I only had 60 ish lambs born last spring and I don't do any advertising.
I would expect to double that and more next year if I pushed them and had the lambs...
Should note that they don't all go in July!

All at £150? Are they cut and vacuum packed?
