kv match plough

Not that good. Its working on grass which is hiding a few poss problems. The front furrow is wrong, maybe due to the tyre being too wide, though the open furrow does seem wide enough. I think that on stubble, the front furrow would fall right in as it would not push so far. The work could also be too shallow for the width of furrow, and skims look a bit too deep.(Letter boxes showing on the middle furrow behind the tractor.) My Kv, (super Hydreins) goes well on grass, but I cant get it to perform quite so well on stubble.

My boards are standard, the thing is true as I can make it, but it still has a tendancy to pair its work. I am off to David Chappells this spring for some instruction, and if all goes well, to copy the mods he has done to a set of boards.

Would Fiskars KH fit on to a Kverneland model 3 plough if I take the whole mounting and landslide also were there any difference between the match KH and the ones fitted to farm ploughs

I must advise some caution here. Though I like the fiskars work much more than the KV. ( better furrow definition, more soil made available, etc) I believe that judges are now trained to prefer the flatter more rounded Kv furrow shape, so you will always be disadvantaged using fiskars. That being said, unless the fiskars parts were extremely cheap, I would leave them alone

Well I did look for a set kv bodies but found nothing a match plough could not be found for under £4000 . There is two boys up here with fiskars ploughs that make a very good job maintaining you don't need a shiny match plough to win

Are judges trained? Does anyone know what they are looking for?
Perhaps trained is not too accurate! The S O P, run judges seminars, in an attempt to level the playing field, but untill they insist on judges coming from outside the area of any match, that have been to a seminar ( and will judge to the requirements of that) you will still get old Fred and his mate, marking up Bill and Joe because they are known to be good, so what ever they do is bound to be right, and Fred and co dont know any better.
