The Reading Agricultural Club would like to invite you to their 49th annual conference, on Thursday 29th January 2015.
It is the largest student run conference in the UK and this year we will be debating the topic of "UK Self Sufficiency: Pipe dream or reality?" Can the UK produce enough food to feed ourselves, without relying on imports, and how will British agriculture change in the future, with changing demands, pressures and markets.
John Giles will be the panel chairman, with guest speakers from the Livestock (Charlotte Johnson - RASE), Arable (Simon Beddows - Coppid farming), Dairy (Rebecca Lewis - Promar) and Horticulture (Harry Hall - Hall Hunter Partnership) sectors. Each guest speaker will deliver their topic, then the panel will be open for a question and answer session. Following on from the conference, refreshments will be provided.
The conference will be in the Agricultural building at the University of Reading in the Madejski theatre. The doors will open at 6:30pm for a prompt 7pm start. It will last roughly 2 hours, attendance and parking is FREE. Donations at the conference will be going to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI)
