You don't have any charolais now.Tell me about it, the calves should go on and do anywhere. Why's it so long since you bought any?![]()

Yes ,no point in all cattle been finished at the same time.Problem coming is that all these experts and consultants are advocating spring calving which is going to result in a real shortage of backend calves for the finishers.
I do that for less than 50p/hour…£30 odd per hour just to talk shyte
50p less? If not, I can undercut you!I do that for less than 50p/hour…
Have calved at 24 months up until now but the owners want to head towards outwintering and massively reducing hard feeding so they'll struggle to grow big enough. We don't have the acreage of good ground to grow decent forage crops so they're only on deferred hill grazing and bales to supplement where required.
As don't want to calve twice a year, 36 months is the next option and they're not costing much other than lost opportunity to get there.
didn,t see many cow's overheard some incalver's at 1400, bull's didn't take much notice richard r had the better one's. didn't think there was anything up the top for us but we had 8 . the big lad got loaded and got off and i had 7 more down the bottom . i thought they were back a bit but looking at them at home i'm not sure. the av+50 plenty of bone but not much else@thorpe what was the trade on Saturday? What sort of an incalfer do you get for £1400 down your end?@thorpe what was the trade on Saturday? Were those in calfers any use? And what were those young bulls?
Is it good quality? Will someone just get on and buy that Haylage from @Mc115reed !!! It’s getting really tedious on Facebook, poor lad is touting it on every page he can!!
Are you wanting a few?It would be one better not having up here
Big wooden heifers never last, always told heifers get pushed out but never have here.Back home on the dairy unit, we used to calve at 3 yr old too, as unfashionable as it is.
If you have cheap/rough grazing to run them over to grow on steadily then I really can't see that it's necessarily a mistake.
Prior to robots, our heifers used to calve in, then run in one big group of 250 milkers with concs through OOPFs. 2 yr old heifers would have struggled to compete in that scenario imo.
i'm not a suckler man but they looked good honest cattle, prob strong dairy blue's 2nd calver's , dispersal. What sort of an incalfer do you get for £1400 down your end?
