Dredgers Sold?

I have heard or read somewhere that the dredgers that were on the Levels were sold for scrap value.
Could someone either point me in the right direction for the background on this or perhaps someone more in the know let me know a little more detail?
Thanks

A few years ago I was looking for an excavator and I'm sure I saw a number of long reach machines in a sale somewhere, possibly Brightwells, I definitely went there around 2009/10.

Don't Brightwells sell a lot of EA stuff? Wonder if the long reach excavators went through Leominster?
I think a lot went to shobdon sale and some to burnley auction.
Brightwells plant sale is at Madley, south of Hereford, now. They don't use Shobdon any more. Leominster is cars and 4wds (and horses).
They still regularly have ex EA stuff in, couple of long reach excavators most sales.

They are still selling stuff. Gives a good indication of the amount of work they really intend to do on the Somerset rivers.

The EA had a massive clear out of big long reach between june-oct last year. think there were best part of 30/40 360's and a whole host of attatchment and weedcutting boats etc.

Thinking about it there has been more ex EA stuff in brightwells in last 6 month than I've seen in a long while. Some of the stuff is near new condition at 10/15 year old

Presumably some clever dick accountant had written them off to zero, so any cash they got was a bonus. Government procurement and disposal is a license to print money for all those involved except the taxpayer.

What exactly have the staff been doing?

Here's a freedom of information request from 2008 for the staffing numbers. It's pretty much the same as today.

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/breakdown_of_the_number_of_staff

The EA are trying to say that they are facing a proposed cut in staff of 13%, which might result in a decline in service

I ask again, what have all these people employed been doing?
