Is there a decent long range forecast available

When there is stability in the models then the forecasts will be good. But times you really want some accuracy there is normally no stability and lots of systems.

At Metjeffuk we do a seasonal long range forecast and I am afraid we did go for an unsetteled August and with most models agreeing with us now, however I have seen one weather model from Japan that's wants to give us a warm dry spell from around the 14th of the month and could last ten days but I must stress confidence is low. updates at

You mean (north) sw Scotland? Weather has been pretty rubbish the last few weeks here, forecast for week ahead looks good then deteriorates as time goes on, not a lot of fun trying to farm with 1 dry day a week.

Rated this forecast quite highly when such things were more important than they possibly are to me now. Not cheap, but potentially, a major cost saver
