Isuzu D-max fuel filter issues again.

The fuel filter warning light has come on again after the issue was supposed to be resolved by the dealer (but perhaps they were too busy repairing the rear tail gate they trashed while it was in their hands). The vehicle has only been fed with B.P and Shell fuel so no cheapo supermarket crap.
Anyone else had this problem come back again? I feel it lowers mpg a wee bit and robs the engine of its usually great responsiveness. Cars only done 3k miles, hasn't left me at the side of the road but it's bloody annoying to drive around with a warning light on till I can spare the time to have it sorted again.
Warning light aside I still think the vehicle concept is great particularly its ability to make you welcome going out in challenging conditions such as snow and ice and the way it ignores the weight of a trailer and just keeps pulling.

I've done nearly 10000 with mine and the light has been coming on again for the last month. I heard somewhere that a new heated filter housing and a slightly courser filter were going to be fitted to cure the problem. Some dealers were blaming fuel from Grangemouth for the problem. Our fuel is filtered out of tanks with 10 micron filters before reaching vehicles. Stored in 3 year old bunded steel tanks that are undercover. Same fuel used in our article lorry and another 9 or 10 vehicles with no problems.

I have also noticed about a 5mpg reduction in fuel economy and the random hesitation is happening more often and more pronounced.
Hope they come up with a fix for it all soon.

It's a software issue I have been told by dealer. New software available for the manual but not the auto.
Only shell garages around here are about 5-7p a litre dearer than the bulk deliveries we get. Would have the same effects on other common rail vehicles I would have thought.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but very interested in the isuzu fuel filter issues.
I bought my yukon in oct 2012 and the fuel filter issue started in January. Initially just the warning light but then the drop in fuel. I was informed I was on a list for this to be rectified but heard nothing.
Two weeks ago the car abs light came on and the car completely dropped in power on a motorway and nearly caused a serious accident. The dealer told me the problem was related to the fuel filter issues and should be taken to the garage and would be looked at and needed a new housing.
Today I took legal advice and we will see what prevails although the dealer is now denying my last call happened.

Mine goes back in tomorrow, apparently only the filter was changed last time (cheap attempt to placate customer, gone 3 days since they stuffed the rear door while it was in their hands), this time it will get a new housing and a remap. Fuel consumption down to 26 mpg on the car computer and 25 actual based on sat-nav data and fuel receipts. I know BFG All Terrains drag away a bit of fuel consumption but this is no where near the claimed figures and 3 mpg less than when the car was new and tight. Dealer very keen to know where I bought my fuel, trying to tell me there was a bad batch from G'nock. Personally I think that is a crock o' poo, awful lot of diesels on the road and there is no national scare.

I have had my filter replaced about 4 times. Dealer has told me they are waiting for new filter housing etc. Fuel consumption not as good as it was have done nearly 20k now. Will see what happens after new housing fitted and a remap.

Mine not back after it went in today. Hope it's better, if its not good for a few miles I'll be really pee'd off. Too many folk having problems and no official word from Isuzu U.K. Shoving ones head in the sand does not inspire customer loyalty. I'm already wondering about a V.W Anorak.

i think Isuzu UK need a prod to get this sorted out. I have been told that there is a waiting list for filter housings as the modified ones have all gone stateside where the vehicles were released a year earlier. Think a bit of a rant on their facebook page may be needed.

It's all anyone talks about on their Facebook page. No replies from H.Q. I know they monitor the page because if you do say something complimentary they are on it within minutes. This problem is putting the dealers in a bad place. With instant worldwide communication everyone knows about the issue and I guarantee that the head in the sand stance is costing them sales. Massive 'to be safe' recalls did Toyota's image no harm at all. The margins on an ox cart sprung box are big enough that they could remedy the situation but they appear to be working on the F.I.I.F.U system, Fix If It F**ks Up and the customer gets stroppy about levels of customer service on a vehicle costing 22k before extras. Blaming bio diesel or cold temps shows a lack of thorough research and development for suitability throughout the geographical range the product has been released into.

Well I got it back today. Go on, ask me if I'm happy. Go on I dare you!
Dealer had my vehicle for two days 'waiting for the bit to arrive' and what do I get back, a truck with a (2nd) replacement filter that blocked before the dealer could drive the 30 miles back to my place. Apparently I'm now on the waiting list for the new filter housing (that the dealer told me he was getting two days ago). So I get to live with crap fuel consumption, poor throttle response and a bloody annoying light flashing on and off as I drive indefinitely.
I am now officially really pee'd off with Isuzu. I am self employed farm labour for whom a functioning 4x4 is essential and in 3,500 miles the vehicle has been out of my hands for 5 days and whenever its gone I'm supposed to insure a replacement despite the fault lying with their product. I guess I will have to budget for another few days without the vehicle when the new housing does finally arrive.
Knowing first hand the hoops BMW dealerships have to jump through to ensure brand superiority I will be surprised if Isuzu comes anywhere near its mission statement of dominating the pickup market while it demonstrates this level of reliability and customer satisfaction. The word sorry has not left the dealers lips, only evasions and excuses he is forced to make to toe the H.Q line to preserve his dealership.
There has been a wee ray of sunshine tho'. The workshop guys sprayed some WD40 into the canopy top that had filled up with road grime and would not lock and now I can use the back again.

Bugger!

I hope my utah don't suffer the same:( my dealer only lives up the road and will certainly have his drive blocked if I get poor service from them.:)

Due to this being my busiest time of year I rely on the truck being picked up (reasonable, not my fault), I get told it'll be back late afternoon and each time it's come back late, by two days the last time. I've never understood why folk surrender their time when someone else's product fails, Even a while I wait fix costs me half a day of income or more probably a whole day since a half days work is of no use to anyone.

Have spoken to 2 great wall owners now and they were both well pleased with vehicles.

Could it be the new hilux replacement for farming?

Certainly seeing a lot of them about these days.

I went to look at them before I bought my ranger as I drive past their dealership everyday. As a basic tuck I think they're hard to beat but if you want a bit of luxury (and I did) then they've got a way to go yet.

Genuinely sorry to hear the problems you guys are having. I've had my fair share of Friday afternoon cars so I know how frustrating it must be for you.

(Also makes me glad I bought the Ford)

I bought a Yukon in November on the promise of 38 mpg thinking we would save money over running 2 landrovers, so far never got above 27 mpg and have had lots of phone calls with dealer, the truck has been updated with software once and is awaiting the illusive filterhead soon, how long do we wait for the problem to be sorted? there are people out there achieving 38+ mpg so what is thier secret? I would have thought 6500 miles has loosend the engine up!!

I've now done 10500 miles. Mpg has dropped from 32-35 to 22-24 at best.
Not best pleased about it or the lack of action from Isuzu about it.
The dangerous random hesitatation when driving away at junctions is another fault that hasn't been addressed yet.

Now on my fifth filter in 20000 miles. Upgrade was number two. Inconvenient and costly. No satisfactory explanation from dealer or Isuzu despite full strip down of fuel system. Only Shell performance diesel used. More than frustrated! Anyone else still having issues?
