It doesn't work! There's 21 members in N. yorks near Cuba. Not to mention all the ones in Africa that aren't in Africa.

The more accurate the location you post in your profile the better it is - posting your nearest town or village is best as location

It doesn't work! There's 21 members in N. yorks near Cuba. Not to mention all the ones in Africa that aren't in Africa.

Certainly seems to be a few anomalies ! It seems to think the East Midlands is in Africa !

If you are in the wrong place it is because it cannot interpret the location you have in your profile correctly. Thats what it is based on.

If you click on your location under your avatar, it will launch Google maps. You can try putting in some extra terms, like 'N. Yorks, UK' which will help it to find the right place. When you update your profile location it will update the map (may take a while at the moment, ~24 hours).

Under your Avatar you have North Shropshire, try changing it to East?
