Thanks for the reply's. 3 lovely days in hospital with the finger cut open and part of the wrist washed and cleaned out and on a antibiotic drip for 24hrs. Allowed home this afternoon so Christmas day going to start tomorrow. Looks like I lost the use of my left hand for a couple of months got to go back next for a follow up op on my tendons and pyshio.Don't be under any illusion that compressed air and oil is safe and the worst substance that can be injected to the wether in the blood or skin is hydraulic oil.

glad you got it sorted, before they had to chop the arm off

Reading all the horror stories here it's a wonder any of us are still living. But I'm glad you got it looked at and you're on the mend, even if it has messed up Christmas. I hope you're better soon.

Farmer I used to do some work for got septicaemia from trying to train a calf to a bucket, got a scratch on a finger from the calfs teeth. Hospital and antibiotics followed.
Makes you think. When we get a new batch of calves in always have a few cuts and teeth marks on each hand. Always wonder if they could get infected but never think anything of it.

I stick my fingers in there mouth to control them when tagging dis budding etc. and always end up with cuts from there razor sharp teeth, but think nothing of it.
But guess you need to be realistic tho or you'd get nothing done on a farm.

Ex girlfriend got a thorn stuck in her arm, damn thing actually started to grow roots into her vein, pretty big operation to have it removed.

Glad MF 6175 is going to be ok, but sorry he has had such a rougth time of it. Lesson to us all, I knew hydrauclic pipes could be very dangerous but no idea an oil pot on the compressor could be.

Farmer near us grazed his leg on a moss covered asbestos sheet while carrying out roof repairs last year.

Thought nothing much of it, just the usual scrape you get all the time working on the farm. Just over 24 hours later he had to have the leg amputated due to necrotizing fasciitis. By all accounts very lucky just to be alive.
Was speaking to him the other day.
