Who has sprayed for flea beetle?

Curious to know who has sprayed for flea beetle as the season progresses and how many times? Also, who will not / has not sprayed at all. We have tried to wait until there were clear signs as I hope to avoid wherever possible. However, since the weekend the flea beetle have moved in with a vengeance. Spraying everything tomorrow which is annoying as the damage is pretty ubiquitous.

I will add some into the pre- / peri- herbicide spray anyway. Thats just how its going to be. I dont like doing it, but I have a fair bit of ground to cover and cant come back to a crop a week later to find it has all been eaten.

I sprayed just the cloddy patches yesterday as that was were there was evidence of shot holing. They can soon wipe out patches at the cotyledon stage. On the sand were it was a nice fine seedbed I couldnt find any sign of damage so held off.

What products are you all using? I'm planning to use cypermethrin. I'll use Hallmark if the pressure gets higher but my seed is Mesurol treated so should have early protection.

Once thresholds are reached pyrethroids can be used to try and control flea beetles. Examples include Toppel (cypermethrin) or lambda cyhalothrin (Hallmark Zeon). If the weather stays mild which forecasts are predicting then I can see flea beetle pressure increasing and possible repeat applications needed.

Sprayed mine today. Only been drilled 7 days but easy to find cotyledons with big holes or only half a cotyledon this morning! Think the warm weather Tuesday set them off. The theory you get less damage in dd situation seems utter crap as mine is strip tilled into a long stubble and the little sods are giving it hell!

Interestingly I can find more on carrier biodrill established osr than I can on the Mzuri sub cast and even less on the JD zero-till

May just be coincidence / location related however and has made no difference as I sprayed it all today

Haven't sprayed anything yet, walked all 120 acres on Monday and could hardly find a shot hole symptom anywhere. Now the suns come out, walked it this evening, shot holing everywhere, some leaves almost all gone. Whats the threshold for spraying??

What are you using on the 5m around the edge then? Or perhaps you have few watercourses / plenty of buffer zones?

My stubble turnips have been in the ground for three weeks now and despite a couple of sprays of Cypermethrin, they are still being holed and in some cases grazed right off. There just hasn't been enough rain to let them grow away from the beetles.

In terms of gaining maximum efficiency from Cypermethrin is it best to spray during night or day? Do these beetles com out at night? Also, if the plant is sprayed with Cyper does that render it toxic to the beetle or is the fumes of the cyper that kills the beetle of spray landing on the beetle?

Does Hallmark have a more systemic action? Just wondering how we can more effect.
