Monitor Farm Monday: Preparing for zero carbon farming Join us for the first webinar in our Monitor Farm Mondays series, where we will be discussing how farmers can prepare for zero carbon farming.
Date: Monday, 2 November 2020 Time: 7pm - 8pm Speakers: Becky Willson (Farm Carbon Toolkit), Rob Waterston (Newbury Monitor Farm), Andy Bason (LEAF Resilient & Ready Farmer) and Jon Foot (AHDB) Host: Paul Hill
Climate change is arguably the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today and British farmers are all too aware of the increasingly-frequent weather extremes. Consequently, farmers have a special responsibility to protect carbon reserves already in soils and vegetation.
As highlighted in the Government's 25-year environmental strategy and by its 'net zero' greenhouse gases emissions target, farmers must prepare their businesses for the pending deadlines. This will help to develop efficient strategies that promote the environmental and economical sustainability of farming operations.
During this webinar, Becky Willson will discus how the Farm Carbon Toolkit works and how it assists arable farmers in meeting their zero carbon targets. Two arable farmers will then explain why they have undertaken a carbon audit and the mitigation of their carbon footprint. Finally, Jon Foot (AHDB’s Head of Environment and Resource Management) will discuss the work AHDB is doing within this field to assist our levy payers.
This webinar will last approximately one hour followed by a Q&A session and is free to attend, but please register using the 'Book Now' button. Following registration, you will receive a link to join the webinar so you can either watch live or catch up at a later date.
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available for attending this webinar.
