Shearing race design

Hi all.

I am about to design and make a two stand race for clipping out of. Up until now we have been catching them out of a pen, which works well, but I think a race will be easier on the sheep and the shearers (me).

I was thinking of keeping it simple, and just sitting it on the floor. Might raise it up next year if deemed necessary.

So, has anyone got any ideas or tips?

What I am needing to know are, the lengths to make the sheep spaces, how many sheep should be in the race. And the size to make the doors. Advice on anti backing gates. Also anything I might not have thought of.

Thank you for all your help.

Have been thinking along the same lines, have a look at Horner/Highway shearing they offer a simple race crate might give some ideas, if you google shearing race, some plans for a fixed race come up with measurements,
