Hedge cutting in August.

What are the likely repercussions/fines of getting caught starting hedge cutting 2 weeks early.

Has anyone had any luck getting a derogation to allow earlier cutting. I see there is a natural England form you can fill in to apply for it.

We applied for one for OSR ground on Friday and got the derogation today - quite impressed with the RPA's speedy reply. Really easy to do send the RPA an email with the address of the holding, SBI number, fields and reference numbers to be cut and clearly state that it is for the purpose of drilling OSR in August.

Hopefully getting the book thrown at any offenders, FFS if you dont want the rules why do people claim the money, one fool breaking the rules makes us all look bad in the eyes of the public and just leads to more rules and red tape,

I don't fancy your chances of getting away with it now anyway:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. I won't bother cutting the hedges where I am planting rape, save me a job, give the wildlife somewhere to sit.

I think they keep on making the rules tighter and more and more daft so eventually you are almost forced to break them. That's what they want.
More rules for them to busy themselves with inventing and enforcing and more people breaking them so they can "fine" them their subsidies.

I just can't see how the rules can be policed. Their are hundreds of thousands of miles of hedge in this country, it would take an army to look at all of them on the1st September.

I was just wondering if there was a known fine i.e. % of payment to be deducted per mile of hedge found to contravene the new rules, so the decision to break the rules or comply with then could be an informed choice rather than a reaction to a scare story.

The spy is in the sky. Don't make the mistake of thinking its just a man with a clip board.

You can guarantee that some switched on member of Joe Public will know that you shouldn't be doing it - though more than likely one of your neighbours with a grievance against you will report you. It's surprising how far the noise of a flail carries on a quiet day!

The satellite will see you.
Farmer had a letter near me after the satellite picked out if not left enough margin by a water course when ploughing.
Yesterday a chap walked down the road to me verge cutting and stopped me and said are you doing hedges?
No I said only verges.
Oh that's ok then he said my wife was complaining and I was going to phone the police!!

WTF?

Had it here in Wales since the start, don't think you'll just get away with it,you might but it's risky, as @radar says, you never know who'll report you and then it's a 5% reduction of SFP(or whatever figure they pluck out of the air) That said, not all land is claimed on(here in Wales up until now anyway, things are different when it's area based not historic entitlement no doubt) and you could get a derogation, though I tried and gave up because the crap they came out with as conditions had me laughing whilst I was banging my head against a wall..I wish they'd compromise and say Aug 15th for example, would make a fair difference to getting the job done in this neck of the woods at least..
