It was not me that saw it was a friend otherwise I would have said something.
Read the sign carefully "all M branded fresh meat is 100% British" Obviously the product immediately above it isn't "M" branded.
The simple truth is that all the supermarkets even the sainted Waitrose will pull any stunt they think they can get away with.
I've heard mugs (mother in law included) say "All Morrisons meat is British they've got their own abbatoir" which just goes to show that people do listen to the overpaid celebs they get to appear on their adverts. In reality, if its fresh but not their own brand, frozen, or in a ready meal they will buy it wherever in the World they can get the cheapest quote.

Well being a great believer of conspiracy theories ..... I don't think for 1 minute this imported lamb is any cheaper than uk produce, it's sold at a substantial loss in order to depress the home market , and it seems to be working perfectly .
And consequently low lamb prices are affecting the beef job, the chaps who bought yearling stores for thick end of a grand last year will be getting squeaky bum syndrome .
Lets all go on strike until the new year , we have legitimate reasons, if they wish to ship it in let them ship it all in,they can't and they have no wish to, it's a game of brinkmanship
In fact lets send a ship load to Australia ourselves

of course its not fresh, its a dead goat from australia, took 3 month to get here.
You may chuckle, thats why NZ is winning the battle IMO,british lamb is killed then hung for 1-2 day in a big fridge, then chucked on a shelf

Don't think so. We had fat heifers away today averaged 1600 pounds. Sold the best of them store in spring for avg 1000. Ours haven't had much feed. If they can't make money this year they never will.

A word in the ear of local store manager is usually enough, they do respond, and it is mostly down to lazy shelf stackers, have t say our local morrisons is pretty good and in general British Meat is kept separate from imported, and it is a very definite seperation
