Mechanical weed control

Looking into the possibiility of buying a wide harrow used for weed control in crops. This will give us about 70p/ha in subs.

Does anyone have experience with it?

Our land is mostly medium to heavy clay. We grow SW, SB, WW, SOSR, SO. Spring Oats usually compete well against weeds, but I'm more worried about SW.

What brands to look for?

We would still use glyposate in spring or autumn.

Sure, lots of questions! @rjs15t

What kind of crop did you grow?
What kind of soil?
How would you rate the effect compared to chems?
What kind of width do you run and what does such a harrow cost approx.?

I would think 12 or 15m would suit our needs depending the cost.

We may all need one if glyphosate is banned....

I used the garford steering hoe in claydon drilled ww. Worked well and wheat yielded well. But still left too much inter row for seed return
