A friend of mine is looking to buy a 1000 ltr / 12 m mounted sprayer for his grass farm, with some possible contract work for it in pony paddocks and other mainly grass farms.
He is looking at 2 sprayers, one cheap, one mainstream manufacturer, a Technoma Xenis, or a Jarmet, does anyone have any views or experiences of these machines ? Tia

I thought I'd be clever & bought an old mounted Hardi LY800 for doing this kind of thing. Cost me over £500 to get it working Wish I'd bought a cheapo new one instead.

That's what he was thinking too, just wondered how well made these cheapo makes are compared to more recoginsed brands ?

Not sure how they get on with it. They don't talk about it much which might be a good thing if it is no hassle...

I wished I'd stayed away from a " cheap" Jarmet sprayer. Works ok ,but if you shut off one of the boom section ,then the pressure just shoots up in the other sections. a 1000ltr Jarmet is so high to fill. Climbing up on the tractor lift arms with drums of chemicals is not good. but to top it all! the booms will just swing around when your on slopes,even after tightning the mechanism.and theres no where to tie them to! My advice would be get a good brand of used sprayer that has been checked and serviced,with a chemical induction hopper etc.

I'd rather have a better make a few years old.

Might not matter but a 10 year old hardi will lose next to nothing over the next 5 years but a new jarmet will be worth bugger all after 5 years from new

Hardly a machine you will replace very often, is it? It's somewhere near the flat roll & topper in the "implements you will never get rid of" list. Why does its residual value matter?

Thats why I put might not matter as the first sentence!

Doesn't matter in some cases but I prefer stuff that appreciates rather than depreciate

He will be working in small undulating fields, so booms that don't work will be a non starter, would soon break too if that bad, it would be on farm for a long time so resale not too important, but spares and longevity are more important qualities to him.
