Thanks for the reply's. 3 lovely days in hospital with the finger cut open and part of the wrist washed and cleaned out and on a antibiotic drip for 24hrs. Allowed home this afternoon so Christmas day going to start tomorrow. Looks like I lost the use of my left hand for a couple of months got to go back next for a follow up op on my tendons and pyshio.Don't be under any illusion that compressed air and oil is safe and the worst substance that can be injected to the wether in the blood or skin is hydraulic oil.

Wasn't liking the fact you've been in hospital, more the fact that it proves however minor you think it is, get it checked out:confused: Look after yourself:)

Our cat bit me last year - I ended up in hospital on intravenous drip for 2 days as well as having about 6 puncture wounds surgically removed , it's the small injuries that catch you out !
+1 long and not very pleasant story but got bit by my dog few years back. Cleaned it off and carried on as you do, then a month later it went all swollen and was agony so went to a&e had it flushed out and put on a drip for 3 days this happened 2 more times in the space of the year!! Fortunately seemed to have sorted now this was on the joint of my thumb, the meaty bits of my wrist was fine tho!
Amazing how little things can bugger you up I was out of work for over a month, and my thumb is still not right.

A few years ago my brother slipped over in the cattle yard and grazed his hand, he washed it and carried on,
Later that night you could see his vein going red and infected, and tracking up his arm to his shoulder.
I took him to A+E and the nurse wondered why he had left it for days, where it was actually a few hours.
They said if it got to his heart then it would be a whole lot more serious

Me too , difficult doing intricate stuff with thumb & index finger - cold weather is a nightmare , hand goes purple .

A blackthorn will also do this.

I got blood poisoning via a midge bite,I'd lambed a Hogg and was covered in blood so washed it off in the stream,I remember being bitten while covered then later on it tracked up my arm.

Farmer near us grazed his leg on a moss covered asbestos sheet while carrying out roof repairs last year.

Thought nothing much of it, just the usual scrape you get all the time working on the farm. Just over 24 hours later he had to have the leg amputated due to necrotizing fasciitis. By all accounts very lucky just to be alive.
