Sakura pea vs other marrowfat yield

I've had my Maro peas, (old variety and prone to going flat) massively out yield my Sakura.

I've herd reports from two farms locally that only grow Sakura that yield was terrible, about 0.5 tonne/acre and mine were similar yield but my Maro did 1.2/t.

Anyone else had a big disappointment with Sakura this year. I know pea yields on heavy land are well down but the Sakura's seem to have been a total disaster.

Thinking what to grow for next year, I would not want all Maro as combining is very slow.

Had good yields with Sakura until this year, Frontier apparently messed up with seed supply ( or have they been telling porkies :scratchhead: ) so ended up with Prophet, so far they've been next to useless, started at 1pm yesterday and by 9pm hadn't filled a 15 tonne trailer with a 17 foot header ( no breakdowns or stops for food etc )

Ours have overall been ok 1.5 and very good sample. But it has been a funny year I think sekura are always 20% down on the out and out yielders. Hopefully there will soon be a better standing replacement. Heard two good reports of campus

Last year we sold 1.8 tpa approx at £340. £612.
This year 1.5 approx at ? Unsold.
But I have never had a 2 ton + yield from Sakura.

Bloody Peas hey.

I would think your in with a good chance of getting good price with the poorer yield about. Are they sekura? I agree if you chasing 2t don't start with sekura is possible but not easy

Would be nice to get a tonne let alone two!

I'm just not sure why Maro which are old and supposedly well behind on yield did so much better that Sakura. I guess maybe they are a bit harder and stood up to the wet soil and lack of sunshine better.

A good example of why it's better to grow more than one variety I suppose.
