Claas Arion/Axion autosteer

Location

We are considering one of the Claas tractors to replace a JD tractor. I tried to find some information about the Claas autosteer equipment manufacturer, anyone here willing to provide some details? Sure they can't have their own hardware? Any experience about the Claas stuff (mainly autosteer electronics, why not other experience too)?

Know of a man with a xerion that had claas autosteer a few years back that had a tripod with it but don't think it was rtk they buggered around for a couple of seasons but went back to drilling by eye as it was better it was always missing bits. ps I'm currently running a claas arion 650 can't wait to get rid of it its been nothing but bother thankfully it's hire period is up either in April or 400hrs time.

Thats not exactly a glowing endorsement!

The tripod was sure to be an RTK portable base, but there's much to go wrong if its not setup correctly. Who knows the ins and outs though, there's usually more to the back story than we're led to believe.

Has the guidance on your Arion been trouble or just more generally with the tractor?

The tractor don't have autosteer just a patchwork black box. It was a neighbour that had the xerion and he told me it wasn't rtk but from what I understood of greenstar I thought it would be but it would do a couple of runs fine then a massive overlap or a missed bit for no reason.

Your neighbour was clearly let down by his dealer as he didn't even know what he had bought. If it was tripod it was RTK..... So many idiots in our industry!!!!
Any system will work well if it's set up correctly. Anything not set up correctly is next to useless

The one you helped set up, up here is going well.

Looks like Claas have brought out a new portable RTK base amongst other bits and bobs...
