Slow payment

Had anyone else noticed that payments have gone seriously slow these last few months?

90% of the time I've never had a problem getting money, there's the people who are known for been slow payer and they l where slow payers but at the moment I'm not getting anything at all in.

Near enough every invoice I sent out since end of June/July is still outstanding, spoke to all the customers, they're all happy with the work just waiting on money coming in.

Is everyone else experiencing similar problems or is it just me?

June invoices not paid by end of November
You need to get much tougher, firm but fair, there's no prizes for giving free money away.

Probably get an influx of payments when single farm payment lands on the 1st of December if your lucky

Observing your posts from afar, you seem to be a good tradesman and very willing to travel to find work, have you considered that some people might be taking advantage of your good nature ? Your outlay on some of the concreting jobs must be substantial, and not to get paid in due time is a pee take. I bet your concrete suppliers aren't still waiting for June payment.
Every time you get a job 100 miles from home perhaps you need to ask why you are doing it and not someone else. if the answer is "its my type of work and I can do it for less, bearing in mind the travelling" thats good. if the answer is "the local people don't want it as the customer is a slow payer" run like hell.

Send them all 7 day pay up or its the debt collector letters. if they don't send the collectors in. Their 10% will look cheap in the long run compared to the possible loss of your business.

Wish one of my contractors would actually send the invoice. I have asked twice now.
I like to pay and be paid, so i know where i am.

Best way then everyone is happy and invoices should be sent out when the job is still fresh in the customers mind.
Farming is hard going at the moment but if you can't afford it don't have it?
Pretty harsh I know but fairs fair?

There's a contractor around here who is terrible for late invoicing, but because its someone we continue to use and I know it will be late I don't mind any more. I had a bill from him last month for the period Oct 14 to March 15.

One off late bills annoy me.

Well everyone else on here is either far better farmers than us or are kidding themselves.
@RWG Contracts yes we are struggling to pay bills currently. Shed work I would say should be paid because if you can't afford it don't have it, but things do happen.

Cake bills are tough but getting there

Should you have late payers no BUT you have a business because farming exists so in certain cases working together works well

The one on the left came to our office to take instructions on a debt. Couldn't retrieve the money so we are in court tomorrow, £8.5k.
There is no excuse for not paying for work that you asked someone to do or for the supply of goods that you ordered. If you haven't the means to pay why on earth would you ever order a shed or anything else come to that.
If you need to borrow money go see your bank manager, the guy that's doing that work or supplies your goods needs to eat as well.
