Putting down the attic floor so they can pitch the roof and it's safe to work over. Got plastic coated but we are sheeting it up after so we have dry cover until roof on.

Sorry 12" x 2"
4" overall width. I had brain freeze. Structural engineer comes up every Monday and is happy and the building inspector keeps popping in , I think he likes to get out of office.
Only problem is the local parish council have realised what's happening!

They're purlins
Sorry rafters have only been put on the other day. They are going much closer than in picture I believe 400cm centres I think? The roofer is just getting everything set up so he can cut patterns and then we can crack on next week.
Hopefully they are up to the job otherwise the structural engineer isn't very good. He came recommended and as far as I know very reputable.
What size would you recommend? I will check them.

We put 7 x 2 for rafters on at 600mm centres , purlins were 189 x 75 rsj , ours is steel roof but we needed somewhere to put the insulation without losing inside space.
Not having a pop , but you need to be ahead of the builders. your rafters at 4x2 is a bit flawed as you need 125mm kingspan insulation.
