Where was the auction

Exeter.

As for the trade for hay/ silage, it was far better than Jerry is making out, small bale hay to £3.20 collected, quite a bit sold compared to last month at Sedgemoor, a lot that wasn't sold had reserves that was too high.

Small bale straw to £2.20 a bale collected which = around £96 ton off the farm!

At this rate the straw will soon be worth more than the grain.

No but talking to hauliers it sounds like its much more easy to get loads up to the Midlands/ SE etc from Wales than it is from Devon/ Cornwall etc and thus bring the straw back as a backload from Wales whilst from here it normally is a two way trip with only one load.
Why are you so concerned, you once posted that all your straw is bought behind the combine locally and would not entertain a merchant supplying straw as they turn up with it at all hours of the day and night.
