30 acres is 30 folk for a day, good rule of thumb and the average we work on.
£1000 for 30 acres is roughly £30 per head per day........that is rather ermmmmm...... extravagant !

As above some do much more than "wandering at weekends", we help out with sparkys, plumbers etc and keep an eye out for all kinds of problems from fly tipping to trapped stock............ and most decent clubs pay a reasonable, realistic price. :)

Is the ad for the weekend though? 2 days 30 people £15 per day?

@lim x 30 acres isn`t enough for 2 days for 30 folk.
Would need at least 60 acres to split, 30 Saturday, 30 Sunday. (y) That is more realistic and possibly achievable but I wouldn`t fancy underwriting £1k for a weekend.
Our (relatively small) club average £300 a day (based on 30 folk at an average £10 a head) and they are normally on a minimum 30 acres.
Funny lot detectorists.......... if they are finding stuff those 30 folk will stay in a very small area, but if they aren`t they always seem to want more acreage............ when they would be better slowing down and gridding a smaller area than random wandering!! :banghead:

We do have another 80 acres in one block that has been detected before
But one 15 acre field has been ploughed since, and it is a crash site for a Hienkel word war 2 bomber
Also a further 7 acres that has not been done before next to an old Manor House. All the fields are within one and a half miles of each other.
£10 per person is far to cheap for a good day out
I can't find a day out for £10 a head.

@peterfarmer! I see where you are coming from on the price aspect, however there is no guarantee it will be a "good day out" which is the other side of the see-saw if you like.
Fishing....you generally have a good idea what is likely to be there and its anything from £6 to £10 round here.
Shooting..... its there for you..... and costs a fair bit!
Mind you if you compare it to things like rugby, football etc its relatively "cheap" ...apart from buying the kit etc! (y)

A good day isn't walking across a field digging up old ring pulls and plough shares in my view :p

But different strokes for different folks I guess.

@ffukedfarmer .... part of the good day is the banter & cameraderie, we spend too much time yakking and putting the world to rights than actually detecting!!:LOL::ROFLMAO:

The way our club sees it is that if we have a nice day out and either the landowner or a charity benefits, and we find something of interest then that is a "good day".

The hobby will never be a money maker like fishing/shooting etc but if someone can raise/earn £300 for a day of not having to do anything it can`t be that bad......certainly beats going to work!! (y)

Aww, you are 20 minutes too far away from my 40ac then...
Its out there............ trouble is you just don`t know where!!

I`ve extended the kill zone to an hour & thirty minutes. :):ROFLMAO:
We even discussed car sharing at the AGM last night.... biggest PITA is when 30 folk turn up in 30 cars..... :banghead::inpain:
