I started school in '63. Dad cut steps so mum and I could get up on top of the snow and walk down to the school van (no busses back then). The Headmaster decided to send us home without bothering to contact the parents. I was dropped off at the end of our road and tried to make my way the half mile home but must have got stuck in a snowdrift half way there, dad found me unconscious later, think that was the first of my 'how the phuk is he still alive?' escapes. Mum never, ever forgave that headmaster. The floods in 62/63 were possibly worse than the snow, wiped out all dad's pigs twice after which he gave up on them.

It's really about being prepared, knowing what to do if the weather does it's worst and passing that knowledge/skills onto our kids. Son has had the snowplough hooked onto the 6465 since the beginning of December :D

If that was end of March 2013 it almost finished a lot of farms off around here.

We had unbelievable snow when most of the rest of the country had nothing, all during the main lambing season.

Just had a look on the old pc, 2010 those pictures above were taken,
this was march 2013
