Nissan navara, engine oil level rising......?

If 6 litres of diesel have went into the oil it would surely be obvious as the contents of the sump will be like black diesel?
There's probably a transmission oil cooler in the radiator but if it failed you would have oil in the coolant rather the the sump. Likely to be the injectors that need sorting.A lot more soot being produced from the contaminated oil,blocking the DPF,although AFAIK that same light will be on for regen.

Would it not be the high pressure fuel injector pump leaking fuel on its shaft seal back to sump??? on tractors that's normally the reason, that or the cold start device flooding the inlet and washing down the bores

I presume its common rail and has heater plugs :scratchhead:

Could be the pump but I believe the injectors are another occasional problem of that damn YD25 engine.

I don't know what cold starting device it has on it TBH, but if it was putting excess diesel into the inlet manifold surely it would be very smokey?
The pump seal sounds feasible.... :scratchhead:

I would say it is injector/pump issue the tractors tend to burn a bit of it off. but if the engine is not getting up to temp much then this could explain the high volume!?

Common on diesels with a dpf as it puts extra diesel into burn and clean the filter. I was told to take it for a good run at 50mph and over every now and again if you only do short stop start journeys. Drop the oil and filter then give it a good run with high revs.

High pressure fuel pump could possibly be passing oil into crankcase? Have had several of these engines, never missed a beat, so haven't had them in bits to really know where/how this could occur?

Very strange.....

If it uses extra fuel to regen, then that can only come via the injection system, some vehicles also alter timing to acheive a regen, it's only a means of raising exhaust temp, so a good hard run has the same effect, you haven't got to drive like a lunatic, 70mph in a lower gear should do the trick. Always feels better than sitting on the spot with your foot on the throttle

, which is what some forced regens are.

Have you got any good diesel technicians locally who could check fuel pressure ect, they may have prior knowledge of this fault?

Are you ABSOLUTELY certain that it wasn't overfilled after the last oil change [emoji848]

drop the oil it will be obvious if you've got that amount of derv in it change it and filter get it to temp see if it will regen I think its coincidence that the light is on and the high oil level u till you check the oil we are just guessing

Our range rover did this it ended up been the high pressure fuel pump leaking end up needing a new fuel pump.

Pump, or return from injectors would be the obvious choices for that volume of diesel over such a short period of time.
As you know they can run on the diesel fumes from the sump, causing over revving. So it will have to be a stall to save the engine.

This is what happens to our range rover it was a hairy moment luckily it cut out before it went bang!
