Is there any need for trade shows now? I've not been to Lamma since its last year at Newark and not been to cereals for 3 or 4 years. What exactly am I missing?

If your looking at something it's on the manufacturers website to get basic info. Then ask on a forum for user opinions. Then go to the locals dealers to see it or get a demo and then get quotes. I'm not sure what place trade shows have any longer, the same as agricultural magazines.

I would say the smaller , specialised stands for machinery , engineering services etc is what founded LAMMA and why many go

And those are exactly the companies that won't be able to afford the nec prices.

History repeating itself isn't it? Smithfield/Royal show again where by a small show gets bought out, turned big, raped then disbanded.

Heard someone paid £103 for a ticket to get to Peterborough from up here on Wednesday or the option of a 4/5hr drive, ditch all the yellow cord brigade and bring it back to Newark
I don't think you understand the demographics there. You're probably more in yellow cord territory up there than Peterborough ;):D

NEC is way cheaper for most exhibitors.

Far easier to get too.
Accommodation is far cheaper and more available
Wages are cheaper because it's easier to get to
Don't get charged for using the forklifts
Fully indoors & heated, better for sales
Stand space about the same price
Much easier to get outside contractors to help build your stand.
Easier to setup and tear down, the NEC is a great venue to exhibit at from a logistics perspective.

The Livestock Event was certainly no more expensive to exhibit at than LAMMA was for us.

Or waiting for hours to try and fight through thousands of other people to get a van in to the showground, or waiting hours whilst the marquee idiots try and make marquee entrances big enough to get said vans in, or waiting hours for the plebs driving tow tractors to pull vans stuck in mud out the way so you can get out of the bloody showground!

I think it's good to be able to compare different makes of same machines.its also easier to get information with being hassled by reps for weeks afterwards.also a good day out and meeting people.i personally really enjoy a good show.looking foreward to does show next
