Wished i'd had knee pads 20 yrs ago ! Bad knees now ! Years of kneeling of wet ground and in the bottom of trenches have wrecked mine(also falling off motobikes, rugby and cricket havent helped !) Now kneeling on anything other than something soft is a big no ! Don't underestimate the good very good boots/shoes make ! Especially work boots ! I take cod liver oil and glucosamine everyday and it does help !

Seriously? I drink gallons and gallons of coffee :(
dad reckons it made a big difference to him and a few others have said it.
suppose you couyld try some decaff! or put up with it?

when you're on a roof what knee pads do you find best?
I have a set that have a hard plastic protector but it wont always grip to a roof and its not pleasant sliding all the time but the soft "in trouser" ones the corrugations still get the sides of my knees after a day, I haven't found a comfy way of sitting/kneeling on corrugations yet.

I never kneel down on a roof I don't think :scratchhead:

Always buy decent boots, cause I wear them every day.

You make a good point about concreting they're a lot worse the day after a good pour

I have bad knees , always have had. Sometimes it's worse than other times, weather affects it.
Being over weight doesn't help, not say you are Rob:), but I know I am and I know I've got to do something about it! I saw a specialist about ten years ago, my Mrs was keen for me to find out what was wrong:rolleyes:, waste of time really as he couldn't give me an answer, but he did tell me to keep the weight off (I was slimmer then(y), and I thought I'd stay that way, wrong:() , he said any weight is multiplied by 7 through your knees:eek:, so an extra stone is like your knees are carrying 7 stone extra! Makes sense I suppose. But this is obviously not your problem :)

I also saw a chiropractor more recently, she noticed that when I stood without shoes on, my feet tipped inwards, that's the best way to describe it I think?, she recommended getting some arch supports to go in my shoes. Well that was amazing advice, the comfort was like night and day(y), no matter how good you think your boots are, if they are not supporting you foot properly this can effect you knees! I'm not saying it's cured mine, but by heck it helped(y), worth a try?
