I take it the nut is on the inside of the frame, and that is the bolt head on the outside, see there is a socket type ring on outside that will stop the bold turning, and it looks as if it is half off, so cut it off and weld a temp bar to the bolt head, use the cut off bolt keeper to fit the nut, weld something to it like and old socket, use to undo the ni loch nut, once out clean up the face where bolt head keeper sits, replace the bolt and tighten the nut up as needed, then cut off welded bit of metal on bolt head, tidy up with grinder and then cut old socket off bolt head keeper and refit keeper over bolt head and weld back on

Think its might be an 1 1/2" dia bolt? The markings on the head of the bolt would indicate imperial? AL and S

so that makes it a 2 1/4 socket according to this chart?

Got to buy a large socket to undo the main pivot bolt on a Strimech shear grab.

Got to be a socket no spanner or stilsons will get near it, I measured the nut as being just over 56mm some thing like 56.3 or 56.4mm? (digital veneers so should be accurate)

Would they have used a imperial bolt???? what size imperial socket is near that?

biggest socket I got is 51mm so no were near!

Need to take the top grab off to do a little repair:mad:

have you a pic of the nut ?

Def 2"1/4 inch

And as for a 2 13/16 that would be 71mm approx, as for odd sizes try figuring out whitworth..........................

them nuts are nice and easy to get too! mines a 5ft 10" grab and matbro brackets so you can only get to the nut from the inside of the grab.

Are there no depths of skullduggery to which you will plunge to firmly assert your undisputed mastery of metric to imperial measurements?

I have met some utterly ruthless people in my life, but none so devious and so unscrupulously underhanded as yourself Lincs Lass.

Have you ever considered a career in the civil service, or even the Welsh Assembly?

Good luck ringing strimech, i have never met a firm with such bad back up or customer service. I used to rave about their buckets until i was passed from pillar to post with their non existent promises and shoddy service when buying a new bucket from them.
