Took my PC to the computer shop....

...and now it's come back all changed!

Temp files have been deleted
Browsing history
Firefox stores passwords
Windows 7 "profile" appears to have changed
My default browser has changed etc.

who knows what else may have happened.

They've managed to improve the performance, but I'm a little miffed about how much has been changed from the "cosy pair of slippers" computer I had previously. Is there any way I can see what files have been changed? I've got online backup via Carbonite so can easily recover files if needed, but without knowing what's missing it's rather harder to do.

All advice greatly welcomed.

Still Windows 7. I think they ran CCleaner or something without worrying what might change and that I might actually notice the difference (unlike 99% of customers) etc.

Narks me a little they have changed so much that affects the usability of it without checking. My worry is there might be something changed I haven't spotted until it's too late to recover.

why did you take it to a repair shop ?

if it was just slow you would have been better to run CC and a registry cleaners etc yourself and set it to not delete cookies and passwords etc

Do you still have system restore files from before they got their hands on it?
If so, it would be possible to do a restore, then run ccleaner yourself, BUT go through its settings and get it to leave some things alone, like stored passwords and cookies to your favourite sites.

Edit: Clive beat me to it.(y)

Because the HDD was going crazy and it was almost impossible to use without crashing. I couldn't afford the time to spend on it and couldn't be sure I could fix it even if I did. They achieved that at least, albeit with rather more additional changes than I would have liked.

I can access all files (if I know they're changed) via Carbonite cloud as I have continual backup occurring, but the trouble is knowing what has changed.

Is your cloud backup just your personal data, or does it include Windows system files?
