I would quite like to buy a cordless drill/driver at some point and possibly an impact gun in he future. There seams to be a few different models of each can somebody that understands these things give me a potted summary of what's what please? Presume I'd be best buying the Fuel battery powered ones?

This is what I just bought for day the other week. https://www.milwaukeepowertools.co.uk/milwaukee-pmpp1

The FPD combi drill is the top of the range brushless drill milwaukee do, its very compact and when you offer up the side handle to it you will laugh as the length of the handle compared to size of drill body:ROFLMAO: but you wont be laughing when you try drilling a big hole with out using the side handle:wideyed:

Again the grinder is the current top spec brushless with brake. (I know you didn't ask for grinder just saying)

Tool station are doing the bottom of the range brushed combi drill and grinder kit if your not fussed on having decent performance and just maybe the off DIY job about the house?

If I was you and wanted a decent combi drill and the top spec impact wench then I would look at buying the following.

https://www.milwaukeepowertools.co.uk/milwaukee-m18chiwf12-502x
(can get the 3/4drive one like me if you want max torque?)

and

https://www.milwaukeepowertools.co.uk/milwaukee-m18fpd-0

Cheaper doing it this way round, but I have not trawled the web to find the best deal you will have to do that your self but these are the top spec models so assuming that's what your after you can narrow your search down to just searching on these model numbers only.:)

Thank you. Yes I'll do some digging myself was just after some advice as to which model. Which you have now given so that's grand thanks. You and @Sleepy have both mentioned the same drill/driver so that's the one I'll probably go for. If I can find some more pennies might try for an impact too.

The fuel range is the brushless motors. they are better than the older brushed gear. All the batteries interchange if M18=18volt comes in 2amp, 3amp, 4 amp and 5amp. 6amp is available in the states I think? and 9amp is also available but maga expensive. higher the amp the longer the battery power lasts but the longer it takes to charge back up.

Model numbers explained as I see it? example M18FPD-502X

M18 = battery type 18volt
FPD = model of tool (Fuel percussion drill)
502x = 2 x 5amp batteries (think the x is the type of case? I see some that have a carry bag and they have the letter B not X?)

You will often see model number ending in 402 = 2 x 4amp batteries

Take not of the chargers in any kits, the faster charger has the corners tapered off the front of the charger were as the old style is squared.

https://www.tradecounterdirect.com/...-wrench-3-5-0ah-batterie_m18chiwf12-503x.html

m18chiwf12-503x (top spec impact wench)

M18 = battery 18volt
chiwf12 = model of tool (not sure on these letters but iwf is impact wench with friction ring)
502x = 3 x 5amp batteries

Here is a new impact wench that I not seen before, nice little compact one still with as much power as most of the competition.

https://www.tradecounterdirect.com/...wrench-friction-ring-2-_m18fmtiwf12-502x.html

m18fmtiwf12-502x

M18 = Battery 18 volt
FMTIWF = Fuel mid torque impact wench with friction ring
502x = 2 x 5amp batteries

if you see a impact wench model number with WP instead of the WF then that's got a Pin to hold the sockets on not a friction ring. Pins are a pain in the back side takes longer to change sockets you don't want one of them.

I would probably go for a 1/2 had my friend helping me earlier in the year thunder bolting some stuff down into the concrete and I was well impressed with his impacter.

I have Milwaukee stuff, loads of it, don't know any model numbers though :oops:

2 heavy duty drills, one lighter duty one (its crap) 3 1/2" windy guns, 2 with rings one with a pin, the pins crap, ground it off with angle grinder
Mine was a pin model only lasted 2 days so sent it back and asked for a friction ring glad i did the ring one's have more power too..... bonus!! Power daft
