Roller shutter door advise

got a grain store to do for a customer and he wants a 17' wide roller door in the front right corner.

I never thought much of this until I drew the building to get panel lengths. With a grain store the panel is on the inside of the leg so that means the panel is in the door of that makes sense.

So do I, make the door 17' wide as he wants and weld a piece of 150mm channel up the leg see picture

Or do I make his 17' 6" wide and leave the end of the panel showing when the door is open

Thoughts please

I'd weld the bit of channel over the end of the panel, will look a lot better I think.

Doesn't want personnel door in corner

Is it an internal shutter door? if so, I think you need to have a deeper channel with a plate welded at a right angle to take the track, but it will have to be deeper so it's the same depth back as the gable stanchion. Or a box section, in front of the panel, and have a flashing around it to cover the end.

Does the door have to be in the corner? Would be far easier if it were set out by 10 foot or whatever.

If he wants it in the corner I would go with the first option with the channel or bring the panel past the middle of the post and use a piece of 6 x 6 angle and wrap it over the corner of the panel if that makes sense:wacky:

No it's outside

Why does it have to be same depth at gable pillar? Never had any problems with that before?

If the roller door is on the outside, then I'd go with the first pic, so you have 2 faces, sorry I'm overcomplicating it, thinking it's internal.

You'd still have two faces on the second pic, just when doors open the corners of the panel will be seen.

Could put a flashing around the panels I'm not bothered just thinking what would look best :)

put a 150 x75 channel up the inside of the corner post set in to line through with the gable post, leave a gap to put the panel in (150mm) weld channel to extended plate at the bottom that panel sits on then a plate at top to hold channel the door runner will bolt to channel with a angle put a flashing over end of panel , i have a photo of one but the file is to big to post on here:scratchhead:

off set the channel to the same line as inside of gable posts ,leave 15mm clearance to get side panels behind channel ,finish the gable post half on the gable post you will have room to put angle on to carry door track it will impede opening by about 30mm if you using 100mm wind lock guide
