I am £3 per bale to bale, customer diesel, £2 a bale wrap and stack, or field wrap, customer diesel and plastic.

I do my own baling and wrapping but theres 2 contractors around this way that charge £5 baled and wrapped their diesel which I think is a tad expensive

Not that good really, average weather round here means you cant plan, then its 5am finishes to beat weather moving in sooner than forecast etc etc. If the job was not all fire brigade stuff it could be cheaper. But I am average for price round here.Wow £3 seems a lot but not bad if you can get it

£3 is probably a very reasonable price to pay when you take into account the price of the tractor and baler

Yes it is contractors diesel using fusion baler..Then again £5 isn't far out if you look at the ridiculous purchase price of these balers and tractors and their running costs..Its extra to stack around £1 a bale I think

You still get the odd "Hero" going around charging cheap prices but funnily they only seem to last a season

Who pays the plastic? Farmer? You can buy a decent 2nd hand fusion for 20k and it wont depreciate much

£7 per bale for 6 layers my diesel. +50p if chopped. Mowing and raking for £17 an acre which I get someone else to do.
I think that's cheap, and definitely cheaper than chopping your average second cut. Over 2 cuts pit is not much less and clamp wastage is far higher. Also, you can cut a field when it's ready instead of waiting for 100 acres and the contractor to finish elsewhere first.

so were talking about 5-7 a bale to bale/wrap the question is does this include wrap or is the wrap on top which would make it 7-9 per bale

Mine includes wrap. 2 layers costs me 70 p so if someone wants extra or just 4 the price is clear.

I hate wrapped bales. They are handy for the sheep but we just dont have the time to spend days at it. Just get the chopper in and get it done in a couple of days! Job done
