Free range MMB whats happening?

free range dairy mmb would be better off creating a network of vending machines for milk and selling that big time, not being at the whim of some arsehole supermarket who can dictate whether you get shelf space or not and then copy your product line in years to come anyway

do something they cant

I did simple google search of the quote so i knew exactly where it came from.
You were caught out as you didn't realise free range did the same!
I've no issue with free range but i do have issues with false hopes. Which leads onto...

You have not tried. You won't answer my calls. I have not seen ANY meetings in the SW i could attend to get the low down on your ideas and plans for NFU members or other farmers and their "signed " up millions of litres.
As cows n grass said in the Arla thread. I am a reasonable guy but i do like to ask questions and i do like answers!
If you do not wish to engage thats your choice but there are others that will ask exactly the same questions!

Ok you win. Now what part of this earlier message do you not understand. Stop trolling and move on.

Adam for the avoidance of doubt I have neither the desire, time or energy to engage with you on any level. I have tried but failed. Best wishes. Nick

Doing it, helping with finance, marketing, back up, SM and promotion. Turned down the offer of a retail listing.

Not going there Adam. Feel free to http://www.freerangemilk.net/support-us/ as you will get all email updates without committing to anything. Can also be found on numerous other social media platforms, the world doesnt start and end on TFF.
So i will revive this again as i think its quite interesting.
"Free Range Milk is coming and at the moment retailers are going to supply it and in return for you promising to let your cows see grass once a year the dairies will promise to collect your milk (but dont expect a penny extra for it), we have been watching this for nearly 3 years so on Monday the FRMMB went live with a sole aim of being the only supplier of "volume" free range milk under a single label - NO CONFUSION! Since Monday over 60 producers have backed the campaign with over 60 million litres. Our initial target is 100 million litres but ultimately 1 billion. Please support us by taking 1 MINUTE ahttp://www.freerangemilk.net/support-us/ - if you cant support us then thats fine but all we ask is that you dont support any other initiative by the majors! Change is coming so lets make it happen, all contact details are on the website, FB page and Twitter feed. The future can be exciting!"
From @runny egg first post in april 2016.

I have looked on facebook as quoted above "the world doesn't start or end on TFF"
A post in september and before that in june.
I have looked on twitter last post on july 17th.
The website has the same number of "our farmers" as a year ago.

So where is the free range campaign on social media? 19 months in from its big launch and Freerange mmb seem awfully quiet? Was it just a flash in the pan or is there actually a growing market out there?
I haven't seen any market data on FR sales recently but i do know when Arla printed FR on their organic brand sales rose.
The billion litre target hasn't been reach and stands at 825 million litres. Thats a large amount of farmers that have pledge support to FRMMB but where has that support got them in a new sustainable milk price?

Bare with me or feel free to ignore and move on.
We learnt seriously valuable lessons over the past 18 months, not least the politics of the supply chain, the politics of the dairy farming leaders, the supporters in general and the objectors as well. So whilst the price of milk is high and the need/support for change is not as urgent, we are still here and we are still fully committed. On one hand I hope the price of milk never drops therefore the need to change is irrelevant, but we all know the industry works in cycles and volatility takes no prisoners. Does that mean nothing has changed within the industry? No, absolutely not! We are becoming more consumer focussed, the recent launch of the “Department of Dairy Related Wholesome Affairs” is a collaboration between Dairy UK and the AHDB, its designed to target consumers and reignite their love affair with dairy products. Likewise we see multiple Free Range brands in the market, most local but some now national. Even those avid objectors have found a way to tag it onto their products, and why not if it sells milk? I am amused that the said same objectors said it would be divisive, yet now promote the “FR” value by stating “unlike most British dairy cows, our Free Range cows graze for most of the year”!

Timing is key to everything, and despite the price of milk rising enough to save many in the industry the need for change is still as great today as it was yesterday, we are still here and still focussed on helping dairy to change and to be more consumer focussed. Have we delivered what we had aimed to do? No. Is it a bad idea with no merit? No. Do retailers, during many of the meetings we hold ever question the existence of demand for a “free range” choice? Absolutely not once! This final point should tell you more than anything about the concept of FR, because any listing of any product will only ever happen if there is a proven demand - yet the question of demand is never a question, it is an absolute given. So why the residence from retail - I am sure you can figure it out. But don’t think for one moment we have wandered off like a herd of cows fed up of looking over the gate, we are here and we are committed and we aint going anywhere - its simply taking longer than we had hoped.

But, on a personal level I have asked myself multiple times if I have made a mistake, should I waste my time, effort and money trying to encourage positive change? Am i meddling in a market risking doing more harm than good for producers? The latter point being a reference to retailers involvement at farm level and the question of when does “support” become “meddling” to the extent that it does no good, only harm (another debate for another day). But ultimately I believe I can help and we can deliver “better”, so I take the good with the bad and get on with it.

But on a final note, the one thing that I have really learnt is the one that disappoints me more than any other, and that is the way our industry turns on each other for nothing more than individual gratification and self satisfaction from seeing industry colleagues suffer. Dont get me wrong, this does not apply to the majority, but the few who look for ways to destroy and criticise rather than help to succeed, those who throw abuse and childish insults like a petulant child looking for love and when it doesn’t come, resort to abusive tantrums. For me I see them in the same light as a vegan hell bent on telling me to give up dairy! The sooner we rid ourselves of these self centred individuals, who are partly responsible for our beloved industry being weak, the better! But I suspect they will crawl under a stone and pop up from time to time and throw some some more of their own bullsh*t.

I hope all milk prices stay high and all dairy farmers prosper, after all its nothing more than you deserve.

Now i was going to like that post until your last paragraph. Those that ask questions and get no answers will keep asking questions about possible false promises when people are clutching at straws of hope of that extra penny. I waited to see what came of the FRMMB and the millions of litres.
I understand that when the price is high everyones happy but that is the time to invest in advertising promotion etc when there is spares pennies not when prices are in teens for some.

Organic milk ALWAYS has and will be FR. Using on advertising and packaging is whats called marketing. It might have been that an organic company had set up a free range standard that might have meant it wasn't able to be used by conventional producers.

Lastly i am glad you are still involved in promotion of dairy and committed to its success as a whole. Maybe one day we will meet and have a discussion about future of GB dairy.

Well as someone who rang @runny egg many times speaking a couple of times and never rung back as promised I can’t believe it’s still being talked about. He doesn’t even keep potential board members in the loop.
We don’t need another quango in dairying.

Obvioulsy speak to a lot of people whom I know by their proper names, apologies for not knowing which one is @RastaBoy . if I haven't returned your call then I opologise but one thing that is quite clear is FRMMB is not a quango, a quango receives government funding and has government appointed senior members. And for the benefit of doubt - I never waste my time making false promises about our intentions. @RastaBoy give me a call today on 07931 581381 for a catch up. Nick

Apologies for the quango reference I was using wrong word.
Nick I rang you at least five times. I won’t be ringing again. I don’t agree with @Sid and his constant knocking of everyone and everything he’s not part of or buys into. That being said you pontificate on here and when we try to get on board and back you we are left waiting for callls that never come. We’re all busy too busy for that.

Again @Sid you don’t know your facts and are just taking cheap shots. I was not a prospective board member. I did not suggest I was a prospective board member at any point.
